Funerals and Burials

FUNERALS AND BURIALS

Funerals and Burials are a difficult time for all concerned.  We know how difficult these times are for family and friends of the deceased and we are always ready to help and advise at this sad time.   Our team will be here for you up to and after the event.

The Funeral Service

Traditionally the service takes place once your loved one has been placed at the front of the church (the East End) and the Vicar presides over the service format you will have agreed with him/her.  The Deceased is them interred in our Burial Ground or taken to the Crematorium.  You may also want to consider something a little different, below is an example of this…

Lying in State

We can also provide a “Lying in State” over night facility which many families find more comforting and intimate.  On the evening prior to the funeral service the following day your loved one is brought into church to some of their favourite music and a short service and prayers are said.   We have found that one of the most popular songs is “Coming Home” which many will remember from the old Hovis adverts.  The tune comes from the New World Symphony.

The following morning we continue as normal with the Service.

The Vicar and Churchwardens are always ready to help you and make this day special for you and your loved ones.  Feel free to discuss your preferences with our team for the service and committal.   After the service and committal it can be a difficult time for many, please remember we are still here to help, you are not alone.

Burials and Interment of Cremated Remains

Burial of Cremated Remains whether accompanied by a service or not is a simple procedure, please contact the Churchwardens in first instance and we will help you through the process.

A Prayer For the Deceased

May All the Souls of Our Faithful Departed, through the Grace and Mercy of God, Rest in Peace, and Rise in Glory.  Amen.
